FAQ
What is the payback period?
How long it takes for the cash an investment brings in to equal what it cost: initial investment ÷ cash flow per period.
Should I enter monthly or annual cash flow?
Either. Pick the toggle that matches your number; the calculator shows the result in both months and years.
What if cash flow is zero or negative?
Then the investment never pays back on a simple basis, and the calculator says so.
Why is this called simple payback?
It ignores the time value of money, uneven cash flows, and risk. For those, use discounted payback or NPV.
